Manage Your Stress This Holiday Season

Ready or not it’s time to start talking about the holidays. After a year(s) of uncertainty and not seeing family, I hope this year brings the renewal of holiday traditions. If your traditions are anything like mine, that means stress is a tradition as well. Cortisol is the primary stress hormone that triggers the cascade of physiological events that need to happen to manage stress. If we are constantly stressed, then a mechanism very similar to diabetes occurs. Our body no longer secretes Cortisol because it has become “numb” to the barrage of signals it has received asking for the stress hormone.
