Custom Orthotics in Lakeville
As your feet are the foundation of your body, you want them to function optimally and feel great to boot. At Family Chiropractic and Wellness, we offer customized Foot Levelers orthotics that support all three arches of the feet: the medial, lateral and transverse arches. Dr. Jake wears orthotics each day and puts them in all his shoes to provide excellent support.
Custom orthotics can address issues such as
- Bunions
- Fallen arches
- Hammertoes
- Heel spurs
- Plantar fasciitis
An orthotic will help stabilize your lower extremity, and that will work its way up. If your foot is stabilized, you won’t have knee, hip or low back pain. Wearing orthotics can help regulate the entire spinal system.
The practice has a Foot Levelers Kiosk in the welcome area. The patient stands on the machine, and in a minute the feet are scanned, and that information goes to the computer. We can see their scan and a model of how that’s skewing their biomechanics. Our chiropractor will take that information, coupled with a physical exam, to determine the best orthotic option for the patient.
While it may be tempting to purchase over-the-counter orthotics for about $40-50, and they will help to a degree, those orthotics will wear out fast. Also, they’re not customized based on your foot. We recommend a customized orthotic with Foot Levelers as a much better alternative.
Who can benefit from orthotics?
Just about everyone can. We do see many athletes, but orthotics provide excellent support for people of all ages and activity levels. For runners, we offer a Brooks running shoe with a custom orthotic. “A lot of patients like that, because you get an amazing shoe with an orthotics that comes with it. For me, it feels like walking on a cloud,” said Dr. Filkins. Orthotics are also helpful for dancers and others who are hard on their feet.
Yes!
It depends. Often, orthotics can last for several years. We would likely have you come in about every two years for a re-exam to see if you need new orthotics.
Maybe. If a podiatrist deems orthotics as being medically necessary for you, then we can submit to insurance because we tag the podiatrist’s MPI.
